Meinke Flesseman was brought up in the Algarve and then lived and travelled around the world. She studied fine Art at the Lorenzo di Medici academy, in Moscow, and in the Ruud Wackers academy in Amsterdam.
She is greatly influenced by her natural surroundings and one´s relationship with the land, people and animals.
Meinke creates layered textured canvases, producing depth and intensity of colour. Tonally sublime, the sweeping and confidant brushstrokes in her work take the viewer on an emotional journey. The images often appear to have a dreamlike, etherial quality. Recently her focus has been on animals and people, having lived in very quiet environment and recently having changed to the busyness of town life, her work changed as well . From lonesome land and seascapes to busy eclectic themes, using various materials for texture, colour and expression.
